CORNWALL, Ontario – Over 200 audience members circulated through Seaway Valley Wrestling’s (SVW) The Good Fight on Saturday, July 13, according to organizer Al Allaire.

“It’s going exactly how we expected it to go today,” said Allaire with satisfaction.

With a total of 18 wrestlers competing in the ring at the Agora Catholic Centre, shouts of triumph and defeat could be heard from audience members from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. as attendees of all ages cheered on their favourite competitors. Wrestlers showed their intense moves, smashing onto the floor of the ring at extreme speeds and strengths. They also shouted at other competitors, keeping the intensity high.

“As you can see there’s a lot of kids here; you can bring the whole family to the event…everybody loves wrestling, so its a show for everybody,” said Allaire, who is proud to spearhead the only wrestling promotion in Cornwall.

Tickets to watch the show were $10 per person, and all proceeds raised will support a local organization for adults with developmental disabilities, Initiation a la vie Equipe Psycho-Sociale.

“We put on this show for Initiation a la vie Equipe Psycho-Sociale, all proceeds for tonight’s event will go directly to programming. From tickets, to wrestlers donating their working money tonight…it’s a great cause,” said Allaire, who explained that previous SVW events supported organizations like Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cornwall & SDG, as well as Rachel’s Kids House of Hope.

Local wrestler ‘Rexorion’ was happy to be involved in the fight, his fourth time in a SVW match. He is looking forward to the organization’s next upcoming event Detention at the Nav Centre on Sept. 14, which is expected to draw a large following.
