Glengarry Sports Hall of Fame Inductees Announced

GLENGARRY, Ontario – As is tradition, The Glengarry Sports Hall of Fame’s will be welcoming five new inductees at its 41st Annual Induction dinner to be held at the Char-Lan Recreation Centre in Williamstown on Wednesday, August 21.

Included in this year’s distinguished group are retired educator and community activist Tina Cairncross of Glen Roy, Alexandria’s road racer and marathoner Cathy MacLean, and professional hockey player Kent McDonell, originally from Williamstown. All around athlete Campbell (Geeses) MacGillivray and special Olympian Hugh MacDonald will be inducted posthumously. The late Campbell (Geeses) MacGillivray was previously inducted in 1997 as a member with the 1940 Pine Grove Football (Soccer) Club. All five nominees share outstanding sport pedigrees and their stories and experiences will join those of past inductees in the Glengarry Sports Hall of Fame in Maxville.

The directors of the Hall of Fame welcome Glengarry’s Glenn McDonell as the evening’s guest speaker. Glenn MacDonell is currently President and Chief Executive Officer for Special Olympics Ontario.

In the coming weeks, detailed bibliographies of the above-mentioned inductees will be published.

Tickets for the induction dinner and ceremony are available for purchase at Loiselle Sports (in Alexandria), Auld Kirktown (in Lancaster) as well as the Hall of Fame, Maxville and from all directors.
