April 26, 2022 — Liberals in Stormont—Dundas—South Glengarry have nominated Kirsten Gardner, a community activist and Deputy Mayor of South Dundas, as their Ontario Liberal Party (OLP) candidate for the next provincial election.
“Kirsten’s passion for public service is obvious when you see how she has represented her community as Deputy Mayor,” said OLP Leader, Steven Del Duca. “Ontario Liberals are best positioned to beat Doug Ford’s Conservatives, and Kirsten’s experience in government will be instrumental in that fight.”
Gardner’s career of public service includes positions of senior responsibility at the municipal, provincial and federal government levels. Before municipal politics, Gardner volunteered on the Parent Council of Morrisburg Public School. Gardner is passionate about education and she is recognized for her leadership at the county level for advocating for rural education reform.
Also at Stormont Dundas and Glengarry council, Gardner was a proponent for funding the Mobile Crisis Response Team pilot project with the OPP. The project added a trained mental health nurse to work with officers at the SDG detachment when responding to mental health crises.
If elected, Gardner will bring her leadership and community values to the communities of Stormont—Dundas—South Glengarry as their MPP, taking their concerns and issues to Queen’s Park.
“It’s time for the strong representation that Stormont Dundas South Glengarry needs at Queens Park, the concerns of our constituents need to be addressed,” said Kirsten. “As part of the Liberal team, we will deliver. It’s time.”
