PETERBOROUGH, Ont. — The Peterborough Lakers are one win shy of a fourth consecutive Mann Cup title after earning a 10-5 victory over the Langley Thunder on Wednesday night.
After dropping the first two games of the best-of-seven series, Ontario’s Major Series Lacrosse champions have won three straight to take a 3-2 lead over the Western Lacrosse Association winners.
Holden Cattoni scored a game-high five goals to lead the Lakers while adding one assist. Joe Resetarits scored two goals and dished out two assists and Shawn Evans contributed a game-high four assists.
Dane Dobbie led the way for the Thunder with a hat trick, while Curtis Dickson and Tyler Sceviour scored one apiece. Connor Robinson distributed a team-high three assists in a losing effort.
Peterborough won the Mann Cup in 2017, 2018 and 2019 before the title series was held off for two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Ontario has dominated the Mann Cup over the past two decades, boasting 17 of the winners since 2000.
Game 6 is set to go Friday. If necessary, Game 7 will take place Saturday.
