Companies in the news:
Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Up $5.38, or 9.45 per cent, to $62.29. Bombardier is set to beat its own financial results expectations for 2022, the company said Tuesday as it released preliminary results. The aircraft maker said key factors like revenue, earnings and especially free cash flow will come in ahead of what it had guided earlier last year. Bombardier, which reports in U.S. dollars, initially expected free cash flow of around US$50 million for the year but increased its guidance to US$515 million last August. It now expects free cash flow of US$735 million. When it increased the cash flow guidance last August, the company said the amount had increased because of stronger working capital performance and increased interest cost savings from accelerated deleveraging.
Barrick Gold Corp. (TSX:ABX). Down 98 cents, or 3.76 per cent, to $25.12. Barrick Gold Corp. said its gold production for 2022 came in below its guidance for the year. The company said it produced 4.14 million ounces of gold based on preliminary figures for the year compared with earlier guidance for 4.2 million ounces. Preliminary copper production figures totalled 440 million pounds, in line with its guidance range for between 420 million and 470 million pounds.
