Enbridge Inc. (TSX:ENB). Energy. Up 55 cents, or 1.03 per cent, to $54.17 on 16.4 million shares.
Barrick Gold Corp. (TSX:ABX). Materials. Up $1.15, or 6.40 per cent, to $19.13 on 14.1 million shares.
Baytex Energy Corp. (TSX:BTE). Energy. Down 20 cents, or 2.58 per cent, to $7.55 on 10.2 million shares.
Yamana Gold Inc. (TSX:YRI). Materials. Up $1.01, or 18.10 per cent, to $6.59 on 9.3 million shares.
Suncor Energy Inc. (TSX:SU). Energy. Up 23 cents, or 0.48 per cent, to $48.70 on 8.6 million shares.
Kinross Gold Corp. (TSX:K). Materials. Up 59 cents, or 12.72 per cent, to $5.23 on 7.3 million shares.
Companies in the news:
Telus Corp. (TSX:T). Up 67 cents, or 2.39 per cent, to $28.70. Telus Corp. raised its dividend as it reported a profit of $551 million in its latest quarter, up from $358 million in the same period last year. The telecommunications company saw the strongest customer gains in more than a decade, with net wireless up 150,000 or 11 per cent from the same quarter last year. Its wireline customers were also up, with 73,000 net additions.
RioCan Real Estate Investment Trust (TSX:REI.UN). Up 45 cents, or 2.34 per cent, to $19.68. RioCan Real Estate Investment Trust said supermarkets, pharmacies and discount retailers are driving growth in its occupancy rates. Jonathan Gitlin said retailers including Dollarama Inc. and TJX Companies Inc., which owns Winners, HomeSense and Marshalls, are taking up even more space in the Toronto-based realty company’s portfolio. The chief executive said other businesses fuelling growth include service providers such as nail and hair salons and medical offices and clinics.
Enbridge Inc. — Enbridge Inc. said it earned $1.28 billion in its latest quarter, up from $682 million in the same quarter last year. The pipeline operator said the profit amounted to 63 cents per share for the quarter ended Sept. 30, up from 34 cents per share a year ago. Operating revenue grew to $11.57 billion in the company’s third quarter, compared with $11.47 billion in 2021.
