CORNWALL, Ontario – Cornwall police won’t be the only agency patrolling city streets Halloween night, as TV Cogeco will have rolling units as well, ready to help.
The local television providers will be out in branded vehicles, perhaps as many as five, staffed by Cogeco employees who will be ready to help in the event a trick-or-treater needs assistance.
“They’ll be driving through neighbourhoods with their beacons on,” said Calvin Killoran, programming and community relations manager at the local Cogeco office. “We’ll be like a second set of eyes for the police.
“We can contact emergency services if they’re required.”
Saturday will mark the second year Cogeco has offered its service.
The patrol will last from 5:30 to 8 p.m. in the areas where children are trick or treating. Parents and children are encouraged to approach one of these Cogeco vans if at any point they think they are in need of assistance.
Cornwall police have added extra patrols for the night as well, with the help of the Community Mobile Watch.
