SOUTH GLENGARRY, Ontario – Despite the rough weather on the weekend of Nov. 3 and 4 the Trunk Sale still had an impressive haul of donations to give to Rachel’s Kids.
Once again, the Trunk Sale took place at Marlin Orchards.
This was the second year that Rachel’s Kids benefitted from the Trunk Sale, and the market raised $40,465 for them this year.
“I have 40,465 reasons to smile. Coincidentally that is also the amount that we raised at the Ninth Annual Trunk Sale. WooHoo,” said Debbie Poirier-Burns of W3G & Co, the organizers of the Trunk Sale. “Last year’s event raised just shy of $40,000 for Rachel’s Kids. They are an amazing charity who help so many families in their times of need. I am truly honoured to be working with such a great group of people.”
Kim Lauzon, Executive Director of Rachel’s Kids said that the money would be spent to help ensure that they can continue to provide programming.
“We want to give a huge thank you to the community,” said Lauzon at the Trunk Sale. “We’re are entirely a non-profit and we rely on the support of the community. We’ve noticed a huge increase in cancer amongst the little ones and this will go a long way to help.”
Over the past nine years, the Trunk Sale has raised $150,000 for local charities.
