CORNWALL, Ontario – Rene Longchamps of the Seaway Valley Soccer Club recently revealed that damage has been done to their new field at Gray’s Creek.
Longchamps said that he believed that the damage was caused by a large pick-up truck and some sort of All-terrain vehicle (ATV) sometime over the weekend.
The Seaway Valley Soccer Club paid to have the field built and will now have to pay to repair the damage. According to Longchamps, the field is still not usable.
“We have already gone to fix the sod and top soil,” he said in an interview with Seaway News. “This was our first full year with the field.”
He said that the total cost to repair the field will probably be a couple thousand dollars.
In addition to field repairs, he said that the club is also considering installing posts or a fence that would prevent vehicles from going on the field in the future.
He said a similar incident happened to the club in the past when they played at the soccer fields on Second St. W.
