FINCH, Ontario – The Canadian Pacific Holiday Train steamed into Finch on on Monday, Nov. 27.
The train is touring Canada to raise money for local food banks.
The stop in Finch generated $5,533 for Community Food Share. Of the total amount raised, $4, 000 was donated by CP, $1,431 wsa donated by the crowd in Finch and $102.50 was made in canteen sales.
The train had stopped in Finch for roughly 45 minutes on Monday afternoon.
The train also carried musical artists Colin James and Emma Lee who preformed for the crowd that gathered to see the train.
The train had visited the region previously and Community Food Share Administrator said in a press release that the CP Train provided a feel good boost to the community.
“The train’s visit in 2015 launched a new era of visibility for agencies such as ours which cater to those in need of food,” he said. “Thanks to the short concerts presented at stops, donors can feel good about giving to a worthwhile cause while listening to some excellent music. It’s a good reminder for us to think about those less fortunate and to do what we can.”
