Ribfest seeks creative juices in naming mascot
The new face of Ribfest has yet to be named.

Preparations for Ribfest 2017 are currently underway, and the Optimist Club of Cornwall is hard at work building an unforgettable event.

Father of Ribfest, Terry Muir is co-chairing the event this year along with last year’s Ribfest Chairman, John Lucio. Together, they have put together a four-day BBQ extravaganza, which will once again take place at Lamoureux Park.

Along with a fresh website and logo, new changes also include a new face for the event, who has yet to be named.

“We’re very excited about the new look for 2017,” said Muir. “But our mascot needs a name.”

To encourage participation in the challenge, Cornwall Ribfest will be awarding the lucky winner two rib dinners of ribs at the event.

“We thought we’d just ask people, but we know that sometimes, you just need to have an incentive to get the public’s creative juices going,” said Lucio. “And what better way to inspire than the thought of a wonderfully fragrant rack of BBQ ribs.”

The contest is taking place on Cornwall Ribfest’s Facebook page. To participate, simply ‘like’ the page and find the pinned post with the image of the mascot, give it a name in the comments, and share the post.  If you aren’t a Facebook user, you can email your submission to media@cornwallribfest.com. A winner will be chosen on Friday, Mar. 31.
