CORNWALL, Ontario – On the final day of nominations for the municipal election, incumbent Cornwall Mayor Leslie O’Shaughnessy announced that he will indeed seek re-election.

“My campaign is now in the planning stages and will officially kick off in September,” O’Shaughnessy said in a brief statement to the media. “I wish everyone a safe and enjoyable summer and look forward to listening and having discussions with our residents about the future of our city and how we should move forward.”

O’Shaughnessy is fighting for re-election against current Cornwall Councillors David Murphy and Bernadette Clement and also Nicole Spahich, who ran for mayor in 2010.

There are currently 25 individuals running for Cornwall City Council. See the full list of municipal candidates here.
