CORNWALL, Ontario – As a result of an ongoing investigation by the Criminal Investigation Division into an incident that occurred in early December, 2017 where a man suffered a gunshot wound to his arm and was forced from his residence.
Two persons were taken into custody and charged accordingly while a third person remained at large and a Canada-Wide warrant was obtained for his arrest. On Dec. 14, 2017 members of the Cornwall Community Police Service attended Chateauguay, QC as Chateauguay Police Service had the man in custody on the strength of Cornwall’s warrant.
Blais Girard, 22, of Valleyfield, QC was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant, transported to Cornwall and held for a bail hearing. Girard is facing the following charges:

- Break, Enter and Commit
- Kidnapping while using a Firearm
- Discharge Firearm with Intent
- Firearm: Use while committing offence
- Firearm: Possession contrary to Prohibition Order

- Breach of Probation
THEFT, BREACH
CORNWALL, Ontario – William McDonald, 23, of Cornwall was arrested on Dec. 14, 2017 and charged with theft under $5,000 and breach of two. probation orders and one undertaking for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged while at the Cornwall Square on Dec. 14, 2017 the man selected items from a merchant making no attempt to pay for the items a he left the store. Police were contacted and located the man a short distance away. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
WARRANT
CORNWALL, Ontario – Derek Richardson, 36, of Cornwall was arrested on Dec. 14, 2017 and charged with breach of undertaking for failing to notify a change of address. It is alleged on Nov. 10, 2017 while investigating an unrelated matter police learned Richardson had moved and failed to report the change of address to police. On Dec. 14, 2017 the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
CORNWALL, Ontario – Richard Massia, 28, of Cornwall was arrested on Dec. 15, 2017 on the strength of a warrant and also charged with possession of counterfeit currency. It is alleged on Sept. 1, 2017 the man gave a fraudulent cheque to an acquaintance and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation a warrant was obtained for his arrest. On Dec. 15, 2017 the man was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant after he was stopped by police for riding a bicycle without a light. During the arrest the man was found to be in possession of a counterfeit $100.00 US currency. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
BREACH
CORNWALL, Ontario – A 25-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on Dec. 14, 2017 and charged with breaching two probation orders for failing to notify a change of address, communicating with his ex-girlfriend, being within 500 meters of her and failing to keep the peace. It is alleged while investigating a possible breach complaint police located the man at his ex-girlfriend’s residence. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.
