CORNWALL, Ontario – The ninth annual Telethon for Hospice goes live on YourTV this Saturday, Nov. 4 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
This event is the largest fundraiser of the year for Carefor Hospice Cornwall and raised $169, 000 last year and Fundraising Coordinator Sandy Collette is hoping to be that goal this Saturday.
Every year, Cornwall Hospice needs to raise $600, 000 to provide the sensitive and caring service that it does during the most difficult time in the life of any family.
Funding that Cornwall Hospice raise goes to its programs, like the new Caregiver Program that helps those who help family members.
Caregivers with a family member who is on the patient admission list for Cornwall Hospice are eligible for the program. Through the program can go for dinner at hospice and get comforts like a manicure, pedicure or just someone to talk to.
There will be special guests this year talking about the support they receive from and give to Hospice Cornwall. Guests include Nancy Dennig of Hospice’s Day Program, Chris Emard who will talk about the support Cornwall Waterfest gives to Hospice and testimonials from family members whose loved ones have stayed at hospice.
Entertainment will be provided throughout the afternoon, including performances from Rodney Rivette, Kevin Rivette, Stephanie Coleman, DJ White and more.
There will be around 12 volunteers manning the phones ready to take your donations. Call 613-935-7762 on Saturday, Nov. 4 between 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. to support Carefor Hospice Cornwall.
