CORNWALL, Ontario – Families and their furry friends flocked to Gray’s Creek on Saturday, Sept. 22 to participate in the annual, province-wide Friends for Life Walk.

“We’ve had a low turnout today however we’ve had a lot of support from our community,” said Carol Link, Manager at the SDG OSPCA.

The 2018 fundraising goal is $22,000 but Link believes that donations will fall a bit short this year. She thinks there were about 10 participants who set off on the walk around 10 a.m. and others who donated online.

“It’s a nice day. We have a barbeque afterwards and we have some dog games that some of the dogs have already tried out,” said Link. Games included different agility courses.

According to Link, the OSPCA relies on donor dollars and fundraisers such as the walk.

“It’s also fun because we get to see prior adoptees and hear those stories. We also have some volunteers who walk some dogs from the shelter,” said Link.
