CORNWALL, Ontario – Environment Canada has issued a Freezing Rain Warning for Cornwall and the surrounding area for Wednesday afternoon, March 23, 2022.
“Freezing rain is forecast to develop late this afternoon or evening. The freezing rain will likely linger into early Thursday morning before changing over to rain as temperatures warm. There remains some uncertainty in ice accretion amounts for the Ottawa River Valley which could see additional amounts of ice accretion by noon on Thursday,” the Environment Canada Weather Warning reads.
Environment Canada predicts ice accretion between two-to-four milimeters.
By noon on Thursday, the freezing rain is expected to have shifted to rain and rainfall amounts of 10-to-20 milimeters are possible.
According to The Weather Network, rain mixed with snow is expected to start falling in the Cornwall area at around 10 p.m. Wednesday evening before turning into rain at around mid-morning on Thursday. Rain is expected to continue into the early afternoon.
Temperatures on Wednesday will peak at around five degrees Celsisus and will stay around zero degrees throughout the night and into Thursday morning.
