THE UNITED COUNTIES, Ontario – From November 17 to 24, members of the SDG Library will have the opportunity to pay off overdue fines by donating non-perishable food items.
The second Food for Fines program will take place at each Library branch in SDG, collecting food on behalf of local food banks and organizations. For every non-perishable donated, $2 in fines will be waived.
In May, the campaign raised a total of 528 cash or food donations. Community members with no overdue fines are also encouraged to participate.
“Food for Fines is a great initiative,” said Karen Franklin, Director of Library Services in a press release. “Its success stems from the generosity of our community, and from the dedication of Library staff and their commitment to this worthy initiative.”
