First significant snowfall coming this weekend

CORNWALL & UNITED COUNTIES of SD&G, Ontario – Environment Canada is warning that the first real snowfall of the season can be expected this coming weekend.

“A low pressure system approaching from the south will bring some snow into portions of Central and Eastern Ontario late Saturday into Sunday morning,” the Special Weather Statement from Environment Canada reads. “General snowfall amounts of 2 to 5 cm are possible with higher amounts over higher terrain. Ice pellets are also possible along the international border. There may be a significant impact on transportation in these areas.”

According to The Weather Network, the snow is expected to begin falling at around 2 p.m. on Saturday and will continue into Sunday morning.

This snowfall will not be lasting long though. According to The Weather Network, temperatures are not expected to go below zero at all this week.
