Environment Canada issues warning for region ahead of freezing rain

UNITED COUNTIES of SDG&, Ontario – Environment Canada issued a Freezing Rain Warning for Cornwall and the United Counties of SD&G.

“A Colorado low is forecast to cross the lower Great Lakes for the start of the work week. Snow is forecast to spread across portions of Central Ontario during the day Monday and move into Eastern Ontario later in the day,” The warning reads. “The snow will quickly become mixed with ice pellets. Several centimetres of snow and ice pellets are likely before the precipitation changes to freezing rain.”

The freezing rain is expected to start on Monday afternoon and will continue into the evening before turning into rain overnight due to higher than average temperatures in some areas. In the most eastern parts of the region, freezing rain will likely remain until Tuesday.
