CORNWALL, Ontario – Andrew Scheer, Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada will be visiting Cornwall on Dec. 2.
He will be appearing at the Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry Conservative Association’s annual Fall Breakfast.
Scheer is the second leader of the Conservative Party of Canada following the merger of the Progressive Conservatives and the Canadian Alliance Party.
He will be explaining his plans for the party going into the 2019 election campaign. Scheer was elected to the party leadership on May 27, 2017 on the 13th ballot, winning with 50.95 percent of the vote against Maxime Bernier.
Scheer is the MP for Regina-Qu’Appelle and was first elected to that seat in 2004 at the age of 25.
He also served as Speaker of the House of Commons from 2011 to 2015 and has the distinction of being the youngest ever Speaker in Canadian history.
