ST. ANDREWS, Ontario – The St. Andrew’s Catholic Women’s League donated $1,072.65 to the St. Vincent de Paul Society Food Bank Initiative.
“We are so grateful for this donation. Funds run low at this time of year. Many people are so generous, especially at Christmas, but the poor need food all year long,” said Tom Thompson, President of the St. Vincent De Paul Food Bank. “Our Food Bank runs out of the church hall of St. Francis de Sales Parish and operates with an all volunteer group of some fifty people. We offer an emergency food bank service on Tuesday and Friday of each week and average some 380 clients per month.
The funds were raised at the St. Andrew’s Community Fest on Aug. 18.
“Our CWL members baked and sold desserts. It is fantastic that their hard work resulted in such a generous donation to this worthy cause. It was heartwarming to see so many of the youth of our parish helping with this event as well,” said Linda Wood, President of the St. Andrews Catholic Women’s League.
