CORNWALL, Ontario – Erika Bourgon and her friends, Carolyn Lafleche, Allyson Ayotte and Torie Bourgon worked together to help bring Christmas to the less fortunate.
Over the summer, they held yard sales to raise some money and then used the move they raised, a total of $520 to buy gifts.
In total, they bough 25 gifts which they will be donating to the Blessed Sacrament Church in Cornwall and the church will be distributing them to less fortunate families so that their children can have a Christmas.
“Not all kids can get what other kids have for Christmas,” said Erika. “We wanted to give someone else a chance to feel what we feel at Christmas.”
They explained that most of the gifts were gift cards to places like the theatre or for clothing stores so that kids can choose their own gifts based on what they want.
All four girls are students at La Citadelle high school and say that they school helped them promote their fundraiser. They say that this was a great experience for them and they want to do more in the future.
