CORNWALL, Ontario – The Ministry of Transportation will be demolishing the old Boundary Road Bridge on Highway 401 Saturday night – prompting the closure of a portion of the busy thoroughfare overnight.
The ministry said Tuesday the closure will begin at around 8 p.m. Saturday and will last some 12 hours.
During that time the eastbound traffic on Highway 401 will be detoured at McConnell Avenue to Marleau Avenue before heading north on Boundary Road and back onto the 401.
Westbound traffic will have a longer delay. Vehicles will exit the 401 at Lancaster and be directed to travel County Road 2 to Boundary Road before returning to the highway.
Brandi Duhaime, a spokesperson for the ministry, said the actual demolition work will begin at around 10 p.m. and last a few hours, as long as there are no delays.
