The vibes were high at Benson Certified Auto Service on Pitt Street last Friday when Sparky and his crew dropped in on one of their many stops to local businesses to pick up donations for the annual Sparky’s Toy Drive, organized with the help of the Optimist Club of Cornwall.
Sparky and members of the Cornwall Fire Service came in bringing with them music and dancing, something that manager Pauline Deneault-Bray said they missed during the last few years of the pandemic. Also in attendance were Mayor Justin Towndale and city councilor Maurice Dupelle.
“The toy drive is an important seasonal event. It really helps the community and its always a success because of the volunteers who are behind it and those who participate by donating. There is a need in our community. We need to recognize that and do what we can and help those who are in need,” said Towndale.
“Sparky does such a great job. It’s so neat and then all these businesses that come together to make the day like this happen is just amazing. There’s such a need for it in our community that its great to see everyone is doing their part,” added Dupelle.
