The U13 A Cornwall Typhoons are currently taking part in the “Good Deeds Cup” competition hosted by Chevrolet Canada. The U11, U13 and U15 minor hockey teams registered with Hockey Canada nationwide are competing. The team that can get the most “good deeds” on film by Saturday, March 4, gets a $100,000 prize to a non-profit of their choice. The Cornwall Typhoons are taking this competition very seriously and chose Beyond 21 to be the recipient of the donation should they win!
“Watching the Cornwall Typhoons and general community rally together over the last few weeks to support Beyond 21’s mission has been nothing short of inspiring. There is such an incredible need for our program, and I just know that should we receive the funding through Chevrolet Canada’s ‘Good Deeds Cup’, it would be a transformational gift our organization and the families it supports,” said Donna MacGillivray, Executive Director of Beyond 21.
So far, the Typhoons are in first place. To keep the momentum going, they are asking community members to record a 30- to 60-second video, posted to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, or TikTok, showing a good deed you’ve done to help your community. Tag @chevroletcanada, #GoodDeedsCup #Contest, and be sure to include U13A Typhoons in the caption or send your video as a private message to Beyond 21 to share on your behalf!
“The U13A Cornwall Typhoons believe strongly in inclusion and ensuring all members of our community have equal opportunities to engage within the community in meaningful ways. The programming and supports offer through Beyond21 help to ensure participants continue to have access to equitable opportunities through the support of first-class instructors and volunteers. Recognizing the impact Beyond21 makes in the lives of participants and our community makes them the ideal recipient for the $100,000.00 prize,” shared Courtney Lauzon, Team Manager & Spokesperson.
With only a couple of days left to go, the U13A Cornwall Typhoons are in the lead for the “Good Deeds Cup” by more than 250 points at the time of writing. Let’s help them win and make a HUGE difference for Beyond21!
