Tuesday, November 29, 2022, is Giving Tuesday – the world’s largest generosity movement. In the hopes of sponsoring more participants to attend their programs, Beyond21 has launched a Giving Tuesday fundraising campaign with a $5,000 goal.
“This Giving Tuesday, we are turning to our incredible SD&G community to consider supporting our ultimate goal: to increase the number of participants we serve. Together, we can open doors for adults with developmental disabilities and their families,” explained Donna MacGillivray, Executive Director.
In 2021-22, Beyond21 grew to offer programming to more than 40 adults in Cornwall and the surrounding area. Some of the disabilities they serve include, but are not limited to, include autism, down syndrome, cerebral palsy, angelman’s syndrome, mosaic trisomy 9, and fragile X syndrome, many of which are also accompanied by a physical impairment.
“Over the last year, the number of adults with developmental disabilities we serve has increased by over 20% — a huge win for us!” said Tish Humphries, Founder & Board Chair, “Parallel to that achievement, our waitlist has also steadily grown as we are one of the few affordable programs of its kind in the province. Beyond 21 relies on donor support to bridge the gap between participant fees and the true costs of running our program.”
The programs offered by Beyond21 are tailored to individual abilities and interests. Programs like creative arts, life skills, and community engagement help foster healthy social interactions and independence, which in turn help to increase clients’ self-confidence.
If you would like to support Beyond21’s vision is to create a world where adults with developmental disabilities are heard, understood, and supported by society, please support their Giving Tuesday fundraising campaign which is open from now until November 29th.
