CORNWALL, Ontario – Two local non-profits the Agapè Centre and Habitat for Humanity Cornwall are ready to launch their new joint business, the Furniture Partners.
Located at 327 Montreal Rd., the Furniture Partners will be a place where used furniture and other goods can be sold by both organizations rather than going into the trash.
This business will not only help support the operations of both organizations, but will also help keep items out of Cornwall’s rapidly filling landfill site.
Lee Taggart, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity Cornwall said that this will give her organization an opportunity to sell items that are not a good fit for the showroom floor at the ReStore on Vincent Massey Dr.
“We saw at the ReStore that there were more items to direct away from the landfill,” she said.
Prices at the Furniture Partners Taggart said will likely be lower than what you might see at the ReStore, and that items might need a bit more TLC.
The store’s hours for now will be from Tuesday to Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. with the first opening day planned for Wednesday, March 9.
“We are very excited for opening day,” said Lisa Duprau, Executive Director of the Agapè Centre.
The Furniture Partners was made possible through donations received from the Ghost Walk for Charity, and from a grant from the City of Cornwall.
Those who would like to donate items to the Furniture Partners store are asked to continue to drop off their donations either at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore at 1400 Vincent Massey Dr., or at the Agapè Centre at 40 Fifth St. W.
