MAN ARRESTED & CHARGED FOR MULTIPLE VIOLENT OFFENCES
Cornwall, ON – Male, 38, of Cornwall was arrested on August 9th, 2023 and charged with the following:
- Discharge firearm with intent
- Use of firearm while committing offence
- Careless use of firearm
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose x 2
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
- Assault
- Mischief under $5000
- Uttering threats
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking x 3 (Cocaine, Fentanyl and Methamphetamine)
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
- Carrying a concealed weapon
- Breach of prohibition order x 5
- Breach of probation order x 9 (for failing to keep the peace, possessing weapons and possessing drugs)
It is alleged on July 27th, 2023, the man discharged a firearm in the direction of the residence of someone known to him. It is further alleged during July, the man assaulted someone known to him, damaged household items, and made threats to further arm the individual. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On August 9th, 2023, police located the man, at which time he was found to be in possession of a quantity of Cocaine, Fentanyl and Methamphetamine, as well as bear spray and Canadian currency. The estimated value of the seized drugs is approximately $2600.00.
During the investigation, the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
DOMESTIC ASSAULT, SEXUAL ASSAULT ON A PERSON UNDER 16 X 2
Cornwall, ON – A 17-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on August 9th, 2023 and charged with domestic assault, as well as two counts of sexual assault on a person under the age of 16. It is alleged between 2021 and 2022, the youth had assaulted and sexually assaulted his girlfriend. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On August 9th, 2023, the youth was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date. The name of the youth was not released per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
ASSAULT
Cornwall, ON – Female, 39, of Cornwall was arrested on August 9th, 2023 and charged with assault. It is alleged on July 19th, 2023, the woman assaulted someone known to her and police were contacted. On August 9th, 2023, she was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on September 7th, 2023.
MISCHIEF UNDER $5000, THREATS X 2
Cornwall, ON – Male, 37, of Pierrefonds, QC was arrested on August 9th, 2023 and charged with mischief under $5000 and two counts of uttering threats. It is alleged while in custody at the courthouse for an unrelated matter on August 9th, the man caused damages to his cell and made threats to harm two Special Constables. An investigation ensued, and the man was subsequently charged accordingly and released to appear in court on September 7th, 2023.
WARRANT
Cornwall, ON – Female, 29, of Cornwall was arrested on August 9th, 2023 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the woman failed to attend court on May 9th, 2023 for an impaired offence and a warrant was issued for her arrest. On August 9th, 2023, she was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and released to appear in court on October 5th, 2023.
BREAK AND ENTER
Cornwall, ON – Male, 31, of Cornwall was arrested on August 9th, 2023 and charged with break and enter. It is alleged on August 4th, 2023, the man attended the residence of someone he did not know and damaged a door and a window. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On August 9th, 2023, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
THEFT UNDER $5000
Cornwall, ON – Male, 31, of Cornwall was arrested on August 10th, 2023 and charged with theft under $5000. It is alleged on August 3rd, 2023, the man took a bicycle that did not belong to him from a Lennox Street address. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On August 10th, 2023, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on October 5th, 2023.
THREATS
Cornwall, ON – A 24-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on August 10th, 2023 and charged with uttering threats. It is alleged on August 10th, 2023, the woman made threats to kill her spouse and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation, she was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. Her name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.
