Cornwall, Ont. – In 2021, Aultsville Theatre received a $48,500 grant from the Government of Ontario’s Community Building Fund – Operating stream in support of the Theatre’s pandemic recovery and reopening strategy. This grant, delivered by the Ontario Trillium Foundation, will fund the advancement of Aultsville’s volunteer and audience services and help the Theatre meet the changing needs of program delivery brought about by COVID-19. It will also support the Theatre’s community outreach efforts as live performances return once again to the Aultsville stage in early 2022.

“Over the years, this theatre has been an important venue for recitals, graduations, concerts, entertainment shows, and more,” said Jim McDonell, MPP for Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry.  “This investment is good news for so many in Cornwall and the region who have been waiting for live performances to return once again to Aultsville Theatre.”

With the support of this grant, Aultsville Theatre will train staff, recruit volunteers and coordinate front-of-house operations to enhance visitor and participant experiences post-pandemic. The funding will also allow for the development of refreshed branding and communication for the Theatre as live performances resume in 2022. Aultsville’s upgraded website, social media and marketing materials will promote public awareness of the Theatre’s reopening and make its content accessible to a wider range of people, including those with disabilities.

“The impact of this grant cannot be underestimated,” said Janet Martel, General Manager of Aultsville Theatre. “This funding will allow us to reconnect with our valued volunteers and audience members as we reopen our doors to the community again in 2022.”
