CORNWALL, Ontario – Rachel’s Kids House of Hope is holding a Bear-A-Thon today, Wednesday, Nov. 13. They are asking the public to sponsor 150 bears for 150 children this Christmas.
The bears are 4 ft. tall and come with a gift card for Kids Korner in Cornwall.
To sponsor a bear, Rachel’s Kids are asking the public to donate $200 to cover the cost of the gift card and the bear, with some of the proceeds going to support Rachel’s Kids House of Hope.
Kim Lauzon, Executive Director of Rachel’s Kids hoped to get all of the bears sponsored on Wednesday. The sponsor of the bear can nominate a child in need who could use a boost of love and joy this Christmas to receive the bear and gift card.
To sponsor a bear, the public is asked to call Rachel’s Kids House of Hope at 613-933-3946 or by stopping by the House of Hope, located at 850 Boundary Rd., Unit 7.
The bears were going fast. By 11 a.m. on Wednesday, 40 bears had already been sponsored.
Rachel’s Kids will turn to the community to find a home for any bears not nominated to go towards a deserving child in need.
Nomination forms can be found at Rachel’s Kids House of Hope office.
“The House of Hope is all about children and this is another way to give back to the children at Christmas time,” Lauzon said.
