CORNWALL, Ontario – Cornwall’s Senior A hockey team, The Prowlers, brought the Christmas cheer to town this weekend, on Sunday, December 8, 2019. The Best Western Parkway Inn was the scene of the Variety Holiday Vendor Sale, a Christmas themed craft show organized to raise funds for the hockey team.
“It’s a little fundraiser for our senior team, it’s something new we’re trying,” said Mitch Gagne, the lead organizer for the event and general manager for The Prowlers. “It’s a vendor show before Christmas. It’s been a good event so far and it seems like people are really enjoying it.”
This was the first year the team organizer’s ran the event. With a steady stream of shoppers stopping by all day, the organizers are already thinking of making it an annual tradition.
“There’s a great atmosphere, people are getting into the Christmas spirit,” said Gagne.
Vendors could sign up on a first-come-first-serve basis. Funds for the hockey team were raised through table fees and a raffle.
The Prowlers are a Senior A team, who recently joined the Eastern Ontario Senior Hockey League, after a season playing in a Quebec based league. The current 2019-2020 season is their first season with the new league.
Anyone interested in helping with future vendor events is invited to contact the team organizers for more information.
