St. Lawrence College is pleased to announce it will award M. Eleanor McGrath, Farmer, and owner of Springfield Farm Organics in Apple Hill, with an Honorary Diploma. Eleanor will address St. Lawrence College’s graduating students at the 4:30pm Convocation ceremony at Aultsville Theatre on Friday, June 3.

Named South Glengarry’s “Citizen of the Year” in 2018, Eleanor is a proud member of the local farming community, and a strong proponent of agritourism and environmental responsibility. She has strong ties with St. Lawrence College and continues to involve SLC students in several projects on her farm to help them gain valuable work experience while practicing what they have learned in the classroom and making connections within the community. Eleanor is very collaborative and often invites SLC students to be part of the team to create new projects on her farm.

“To receive this Honorary Diploma from St. Lawrence College is a true gift in acknowledging my passion for this community, farming, and the incredible opportunity that Agritourism has for many farmers to diversify and share their knowledge with growing numbers of tourists that shows off the many facets of our beautiful region from Akwesasne, Cornwall, and throughout the United Counties of SDG,” Eleanor said.

“It’s a great honour to recognize Eleanor and her positive impact in our community at our Convocation ceremony,” said Glenn Vollebregt, SLC President and CEO. “With her insightful stories to share, I know she’ll be an inspiration to our new graduates.”
