LISTER, Shirley-Mae (née Benson) – Shirley-Mae Lister passed away peacefully at St. Continuing Care Centre, Cornwall, Ontario on Monday April 13, 2020.  The youngest child to Mae (Margaret Mary Devine) and William Stockdale Benson, she was born in Calgary Alberta on May 9, 1934. Proud alumnus of the University of British Columba, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. During a work assignment in her hometown of Lethbridge, Alberta, she met Alan Lister and they married on June 11, 1960. She was predeceased by her husband, parents, and only sister Patricia Locke.   Survived by her children Barbara Primeau (Paul) of Ottawa Bill (Nancy Jodoin) of Cornwall, Doug (Diane Poulet) of Ottawa and Sarah Paynter (Brian) of Clinton, PEI. She was the proud grandmother to Brendan, Chantal, Kyle, Derek, Kristyne, Daniel, Mélanie, Roy and Gary.  Shirley-Mae settled in Cornwall, with her husband, where she balanced raising a young family with full time work as a nurse. After 37 years of nursing she decided to retire and tour the world with her husband. Severely arthritic her passions reflected her abilities and included observing the beauty of the St. Lawrence River from her front porch while reading anything she could get her hands on particularly newspapers with word puzzles.  Cremation has taken place and a private grave side ceremony will celebrate her life once social distancing restrictions have been lifted.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Wilson Funeral Home 822 Pitt Street, Cornwall.  Online messages of condolence may be made in the obituary section of: www.wilsonfuneralhome.ca
