Rudi Matt
May 13, 1947 – November 28th, 2021
At CCH Cornwall Ontario after a courageous battle with cancer. Cherished husband for 51 years of Cheryl (Rutley) Matt, Long Sault, ON. Beloved father of Stephen Matt Ottawa ON, Joanna Matt (Wade Steele) Kanata ON. Lovely remembered by his three Grandsons, Brendan Melesky (Ashley) Kanata ON, Ryan and Kyle Melesky, Ottawa ON and his chosen angels, Megane and Angelie Steele, Kanata ON. Dearest brother of Anne Matlar Richmond ON, his chosen brother Hugh MacGillivray, 100 Mile House BC and Richard Matlachowski, Chrysler ON. Left to mourn are his niece Hannah Kilby (Sheldon)of Toronto ON and his nephew Dale Kilby (Yvonne) Richmond ON. Also to mourn are his sisters-in-law Linda Helliwell (Douglas ) Napanee ON; Hughena Hart (William) Newington ON; Sara Rutley-Fawcett (Brian) Richmond ON and his brother-in-law Steven Rutley (Sherry) Ingleside ON. He will be always fondly remembered by his extended Rutley and Hunter Family, his cousin Dagmar Minns and her sons, Kingston ON; also several nieces, nephews and Germany cousins. Rudi is predeceased by his parents Ted and Erna Matlachowski, his brother Rienhard and infant sister Brigitte and his Parents-in-law, Nancy and Lyle Rutley. Rudi was a retired Ontario Hydro (OPG) (Robert Saunders) employee for 31 yrs until his retirement, where he met and became lifelong friends with Mel and Nick. The three forever spending hours over coffee hashing over all the world’s problems. He was a avid sailor and was a member of Stormont Yacht Club for many happy years. There wasn’t much that he and his 3 amigos, Bob, Mike and Harry couldn’t get up too. Most of all he was a family man who gave of himself a 100%, always ready with a helping hand. Rudi lived simply and his wishes reflected that. At his request cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. A celebration of Life and interment will happen at a later date. A very special thank you goes out to his palliative nurse Kristina and Dr. Maggie Yu. Thank you also to his attending nurses at CCH (JMP) and Dr. Anna Blinkina. In lieu of flowers those wishing to make a Memorial Tribute the family requests they be made to Hospice (Cornwall) or the Canadian Cancer Society (Prostate Research).
