Ronald MacGillivray
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald MacGillivray on October 31, 2024, at the age of 85. Ron was a devoted spouse and best friend to Bonnie (Bagu), who will forever treasure their life together filled with love, laughter, and shared adventures.
He was a proud stepfather to Rhonda (Brett Lucin), Ryan Bagu, and Robin (Shaun McNabb), a loving grandfather to Christopher, Cassandra ,and Raiden and great-grandson Bryan.
He is also survived by his brother, Hugh (Anne) of Kirkhill. He was predeceased by his parents the late Evans and Mora MacGillivray.
Ron led an impressive career spanning over 60 years in the pipeline and gas industry, he worked across Canada, the states and a few jobs overseas where he earned respect and admiration from colleagues worldwide. He was also a partner in the Viking Power Dozer, something he was very proud of. Ron’s contributions left a lasting impact on the industry, the people he worked with, and he will be remembered as a man of great knowledge and integrity. Ron was a member of the local 793 for 59 years, and a member of the Lancaster Masonic Lodge. He was also a member of the Legion Branch 423 for 40 years. Ron loved going to the Legion, where Bonnie would affectionately tease him by calling it “Daddy Daycare.” He loved to golf, go to the horse races, hockey games and backyard BBQs with his many friends. Ron took pride in his yard, leaving it immaculate.
