Robert McCabe

September 23, 1936 – September 27, 2020

McCabe, Robert- With his family by his side on September 27th, a beautiful fall Sunday morning, Robert (Bob) James McCabe left us peacefully after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was 4 days into his 84th year. He leaves behind the love of his life Theresa (Deneault), who he married 62 short years ago. He also leaves behind his sons, Robert (Lisa) and their daughters, Michaella and Samantha, Perry (Nicole) and their boys, Jeremy and Connor. Predeceased by his parents, Simone (Lalonde) and Gerald and his siblings, Margaret, Raymond, Ronald, and John. Survived by Vivianne, Claire and Shirley. Bob worked in numerous mills across the city as a welder and millwright. If it was broke, Bob could fix it. From renovating a house, to sleeping on a couch so the dog did not feel alone, Bob was always willing to help his boys. He loved to spend time outside, especially in the garden where the bugs never seemed to bother him. Bob also had a quick, hearty laugh, that always made others smile. Bob is gone now, and he will not soon be forgotten. He leaves behind a legacy of putting family first, that will continue with his next generation. We will miss him deeply. The family would like to thank Dr. Menon and the staff at hospice for the kindness and compassion during Bob’s last days. An online remembrance service will be held at a future date. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer society would be appreciated. Cremation services entrusted to the M. John Sullivan Funeral Home, 341 Pitt Street (across from city hall) Cornwall.
