Phyllis Dickson
Phyllis Dickson (1921-2020)
With great sadness, we wish to inform that our aunt, Phyllis Dickson, passed away on Feb. 27, 2020 at the age of 98 years old. Born to John Harold Dickson and Gertrude Marion Scott on March 29, 1921 in Montreal, Phyllis spent most of her life in Cornwall, Ontario. Pillars of the community, Phyllis and pre-deceased sister Bernice were often seen together at St. Columban’s church, annual Glengarry Highland Games and various Glen Productions sets. In 1998, both were presented with papal honours for their volunteer work at St. Columban’s and were made inaugural members of the Companions of St. Columban. They were also members of the Catholic Women’s League of Canada. In their earlier years, they were recognized for their volunteer work by the Cornwall Kiwanis Club. Winning many competitions, Phyllis was an avid bowler. In 1986, she retired from Cornwall Electric after 45 years of service. She had insatiable passions for crosswords, game shows, flowers and the colour green. Pre-decreased by her brother Dr. John Harold Dickson, Phyllis leaves behind her nephew, John (Mildred Dorismond), her niece Kathleen (Dr. John Bergeron), her brother’s sister-in-law Me Michèle Gamache, grandnephews Julien, Xavier and Sébastien, step-grandniece Dr. Natasha Bergeron (Éric Brissette) and step-grandnephew Fabien Bergeron. A strong person of faith and truly good person, she will be missed by many. The family would like to thank the Glen Stor Dun Lodge for their exceptional care throughout the years. The family will welcome relatives and friends on Friday March 20, 2020 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM and Saturday March 21, 2020 from 9-10:30 AM at Wilson Funeral Home, 822 Pitt Street, Cornwall, Ontario, K6J 3S2. The Mass of the Resurrection with Commendation and Farewell will be held on Saturday March 21, 2020 at 11:00 AM at St. Columban’s Roman Catholic Church, 36 Fourth St. W., Cornwall, ON K6J 2R5. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Patrons of St. Columban Foundation would be appreciated (https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/patrons-of-st-columban-foundation).
