Patricia Jane, RN Ransom
RANSOM, Patricia Jane, RN – 1954 – 2019 It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce that Pat passed away with peace, grace and dignity after a courageous battle with brain cancer on March 23, 2019. Pat always felt blessed that she didn’t suffer the effects of treatment that so many have endured. She never once complained throughout her ordeal because she chose to enjoy and live her life to the fullest. She worked for 30 years in the area of psychiatry at KPH (Kingston Psychiatry Hospital) and was an advocate for those who suffered with mental health issues. She thoroughly enjoyed her career as a psychiatric nurse and was truly grateful for the friendships she made with her coworkers and appreciated them keeping in touch. One can only imagine all the practical jokes that will be going on as she is greeted by those coworkers who went before her. Pat was a beloved daughter, sister and best friend and will be greatly missed. She is predeceased by her grandmother Hazel Fickes and father Serviss Ransom. She is survived by her mother Jean Ransom and two sisters Barbara Eldridge (Allan), and Faye Ransom (Craig (Bud) Nelson). She also leaves behind two nephews Todd (Karla) and Craig (Natalie) Eldridge. Thank you to Drs. Howes and Wonnacott, Nurses Lin and Wendy from Para Med, who were amazing, Loretta from Care Partners, and to all the doctors and support staff at the Kingston Regional Cancer Centre for their exceptional care and compassion. A huge thank you to so many but to name a few, Mike, Tim, the Anganu family in Montreal, Marlene, Alice, Margie, Joy and Karen. To all those wonderful folks in Plonia’s fitness classes for all their love, generosity and support, and to the many people who provided food, gifts and cheerful company – we thank you all. In following Pat’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held at a later date at the St. Lawrence Valley Cemetery, Ingleside, Ontario. Please take a moment and enjoy a glass of wine to celebrate Pat and enjoy life to the fullest as she did. Those wishing to make memorial donations could direct it to The Gord Downie Fund for Brain Cancer Research, Sunny Brook Foundation, Sunnybrook Hospital, 2075 Bayview Ave, Toronto, M4N 3M5 or a charity of your choosing.
