Orval Glen Brownell
1941-2024
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Orval Glen Brownell surrounded by his loving family on October 15th, 2024 at Sandfield Place at the age of 83 years. Beloved husband of 61 years of Becky Brownell (née Alguire). Loving father of Ward Brownell (Cheryl) and Scott Brownell (Angela). Cherished grandfather of Darcie Brownell. Dear brother of Mildred (Millie) Brownell and Don Brownell (Som). He is predeceased by his parents Russell and Pheobia Brownell (née Boals) and his two brothers Graham Willard Brownell and Ronald Victor Brownell.
Orval married Becky, the love of his life, on April 27 1963. Orval’s career path began when he took a position at the Pfizer plant in Cornwall. In 1967, Orval started his career with the Bank of Nova Scotia which resulted in him and the family living in various cities in Southern Ontario. In 1972, He returned to Cornwall where he began his career in the real estate business with his mother-in-law Irene Alguire where they founded the real estate firm of Alguire and Brownell which, in time became the Century 21 Alguire and Brownell office. Orval enjoyed the real estate business immensely; Orval and the office won many awards and accolades for his and their efforts before his retirement.
Orval’s passions included traveling with Becky across Canada and the U.S in their motor home. He also loved fine wine, a good game of golf and taking his corvette for a spin. Orval would never pass up a properly cooked steak, and a lively conversation with friends and family.
Orval’s world revolved around his family and Becky the love of his life. He was the quiet, yet solid, foundation the family members relied on for strength.
The Brownell family will always be grateful for the wonderful care he received from Sandfield Retirement Home during the last year of his life.
As per Orval’s wishes cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends for a celebration of life which will be held on Saturday, November 2nd, 2024 from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, 822 Pitt Street, Cornwall, ON (613-938-3888). As expressions of sympathy memorial donations to the Ottawa Heart Institute, Cancer Society and Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
