Passed away peacefully at the Winchester District Memorial Hospital on Sunday, September 22, 2024, Mien Herfkens (nee Peters) of Chesterville, age 92. Beloved wife of the late John Herfkens. Loving mother of Theo (Carolyn) of Crysler, Johnny (Monika) of Crysler, Trudy Johnson (Melvin) of Kanata, Albert (Jeanne) of Crysler, Henry (Debbie) of Berwick and Michael (April) of Crysler. Dear sister of Henk Peters (late Dini), Anneke van der weilen (late Theo) and Theo Peters (Annie), all of the Netherlands. Dear sister-in-law of Riet Peters of the Netherlands. Grandma will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren Tara, Jodi, Kaitlin (Tony), Jessica (Evan), Mikayla (Zac), Amber (Brandon), Jade (Mark), Adam (Brittany), Zachary (Shelby), Paulina, John, Logan, Kyle and her great-grandchildren Madison, Jacob, Owen, Brianna, Hailey, Mitchell, Maximus, Lauren, Olivia, Sadie, Lucy, Lewis, Ainslie, Duncan, Harvey, Gordon, Odin and Lily. She was predeceased by her parents Theodorus and Geertruida Peters (nee Willems) and her brother Toon Peters. She is also survived by nieces and nephews in The Netherlands.
Friends may call at the Marsden McLaughlin Funeral Home in Chesterville on Wednesday, September 25th from 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary of the Presentation Roman Catholic Church in Chesterville on Thursday, September 26th at 11 a.m. A reception will follow at the Royal Canadian Legion in Chesterville. Interment will be at Our Lady of the Rosary Cemetery in Crysler. Donations to Dundas County Hospice would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
