Libbie (Elizabeth) Linda Vipond
Comfortable and peaceful, Libbie passed away March 30th, 2024 at Cornwall Hospice, Cornwall Ontario. The only child of Aileen (Brunton) and Gerald McLean of Ottawa, she was predeceased by her husband Bill in 1976. She is survived by her children Deirdre, Jennifer, John (Karen) and Laurie (Kenneth). A very proud Grandmother to Katie, Liam (Kelly), Brendan (Olivia), Ryan (Cassie), Meghan (Nathan) and Hannah and Great Grandmother of Margaret. She also had a number of very close, long-standing friends, extended family and family of the heart who will also miss her. She and Jenny had such a special relationship and were very close. We are so grateful for their bond and the amazing care with which Jenny took care of Mom. Mom so enjoyed playing cards and always had a project on the knitting needles. She was happiest when on the go and refused to let her diagnosis stop her from doing what she wanted. In her younger years, she was involved in the Eastern Star, UCW and bowled for many years. There are many folks who have been so kind and we thank you. The family are especially thankful for the exceptional care Mom received from her home care nurse Manon, Dr’s. Poilly and Lee plus the Team at Cornwall Hospice. You all ensured her journey continued with dignity and compassion. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Wilson Funeral Home, 822 Pitt Street (613-938-3888). A Celebration of Life will take place at Salem United Church, 19041 County Road 2, Summerstown Ontario on Wednesday August 7th, 2024 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, should you wish to, donations to Salem United Church (c/o 522 Burton Ave., Cornwall, ON K6J 3Y2) or Cornwall Hospice (1507 Second St. W., Cornwall, ON K6J 1J5) would be appreciated.
