Leona Marie Rivais
7 February, 1918 – 4 March, 2020
RIVAIS, Léona – Peacefully, with a nephew by her side at St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre, she returned to the Father’s house on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at the venerable age of 102. Predeceased by her parents Joseph and Georgina (née Lalonde) and all her siblings: Amelia, Albert, Hormidas, Paul, Aldoria, Antoinette, Flore, Roméo, Valéda (Sister of the C.N.D), and Laurette. She will be missed especially by two nephews, Fr. Laurier Rivet and Gerry Rivet, a grand-niece Nicole Chaudhari and by a close friend Denise Cardinal. She was in a coma during the last nine days but there was always someone with her so that she would not leave this earth while alone. She will be remembered for her many years as a teacher and school principal in the city, for her smile, for her generosity and kindness to people in need and her dedication to many groups and associations. She will be missed and remembered by those she loved, she touched and appreciated her. We would like to express our sincere and heartfelt thanks to all the SJCC staff, especially the Kane House for their loving care and dedication for the last eleven years. We could not have asked for better. We were comforted to know she was in their care. She will be resting at Lahaie and Sullivan Cornwall Funeral Homes, East Branch, 614 First Street East, (613-933-2841), on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 from 9 am to 11 am. At her request, the Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of the Funeral Home at 11 am. Interment at a later date. Donations to S.J.C.C. or to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
