GOGO, Iris Jean – of Cornwall, passed away peacefully and surrounded by love with her family by her side, at the Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice, on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at the age of 74. Devoted, caring and adored mother of Shawna, Jordan and Gregory Poapst and Gram to Penelope Poapst – “Gram’s Li’l Sweetheart”. Cherished step-mom to Trevor Poapst (Gabriela) and “Grandma Iris” to Julie and Leah. Predeceased by her parents, Floyd and Jean Gogo and by her sister, Kathie Ross. Survived by sisters, Linda Latreille (John) and Tami Kroon and by nephews and nieces, Jamie, Kurtis, Tricia, Kris, Adam and Alisa and their families. She will be missed by all her family, near or far and by her many, many friends. A special thank you to Dr. Garth Nicholas, Dr. Jean-Marc Bourque and Dr. Glenwood Goss of the Ottawa Hospital Cancer Centre. The family is endlessly grateful to Dr. Katerina Spacek, all the staff and volunteers at the Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice. The so freely given care, compassion, support and love will never be forgotten and was a true gift. A Celebration of Life will be held at Lahaie and Sullivan Cornwall Funeral Homes, West Branch, 20 Seventh Street West (613-932-8482) on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 11 a.m. in the Memorial Chapel of the funeral home.
