Gerald Trottier
It is with sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Gerald Trottier at his home in Alexandria, at the age of 88. Beloved companion of Agathe Binette. Loving father of Louise Séguin (Brian), Richard (Tammy Pilon), late Diane McDougall (late Brent), Jacqueline Lund (Brian), Daniel, Maryse Decoeur (Maurice Bourck), and Nathalie Binette (John Prieur). Dear brother of Rene (late Sherrill), Georgette St. John (late Bernie) and Raymond (Monique). Cherished grandfather of 17 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents Arthur Trottier and Alma Quenneville. He leaves to mourn many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
Gerald was a successful business owner, partnering with his brother Rene for over 25 yrs. A tireless supporter of his community, Gerald was a member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and previously served on the board of directors at GMH. A member of his township council and dedicated member of Église Sacré-Coeur. He was the recipient of the North Glengarry lifetime achievement award and the Sovereign award for volunteers. A loving and devoted father, he was ever present and supportive of his families lives. Playing a round of golf or two, calling square dances, past snowmobile club and camping were some of his favorite activities. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him. Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, a private service will be held in the Chapel of the Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Sacré Coeur Parish Cemetery. A public Funeral Mass to be held at a later date in Église Sacré-Coeur, Alexandria. Date and time will be announced. Funeral arrangements under the care and direction of the Munro & Morris Funeral Homes Ltd., 114 Main St. Alexandria (613) 525-2772. Online messages of condolence may be made in the obituary section of: www.munromorris.com
As expressions of sympathy Memorial Donations to the Glengarry Memorial Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family. As a Memorial to Gerald a tree will be planted in a memory woods.
