Georgette Gagnon
Georgette Gagnon (née St-Laurent) passed away peacefully of natural causes in her home at Chartwell McConnell on Tuesday, October 22, 2024.
Georgette leaves behind a family who adored her, starting with her children: Suzanne Plourde (Michel), Mike Gagnon (Johanne Deneault) and Francine Fitzsimmons (Daniel Guillet). Her sons-in-law: Jocelyn Goyette and Bruce Fitzsimmons. Her grand-children: Sheri-Lyn Gosling, Simon Plourde (Kelsey), Alexandre Gagnon-Goyette (Ashley), Stéphanie Plourde (Steve), and Maxime Gagnon-Goyette. Her great-grand-children: Rosalie, Felix and Mila Plourde, step-grand-children: Sasha Spinner (Josée), Nicolas and Gabriel Paradis.
This amazing woman was predeceased by her husband Ludger (Jos) Gagnon (2007) and her daughters: Ginette Gosling (2018) and Carole Gagnon-Goyette (2011).
They say it takes a village to raise a child but we now know that it also takes a village to care for our elders. The family would like to thank the following for their love, support and care: Dr Maggie Yu (Palliative Care Doctor), Dr Pierre Bergeron (Long Time Family Doctor), the amazing women at CHP Home Care who made it possible for us to keep Mom at home for the last two weeks of her life, the Paramed PSWs at Chartwell McConnell who provided her personal support these last two years and became family to us, all of the staff at Chartwell McConnell who made this residence her home by providing good meals, housekeeping, nursing care and kept her safe. The Residents at Chartwell McConnell who became her friends, dining companions, orientation guides and made Mom smile every day. Her nieces and nephews who kept in touch by telephone and visited on a regular basis and reminisced of the early days of her life in home town Lac-au-Saumon, QC. To all the wonderful people (you know who you are), including the extended Plourde family, long time neighbours, friends, co-workers, or newly made friends and care givers, thank you for being an important part of our mother’s life.
Mom lived a good long life and her positive attitude was contagious. In memory of Georgette, the family respectfully asks that you take a page from her book, be kind to one another, be grateful, smile and laugh as often as possible.
A private grave side service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to M. John Sullivan Funeral Home 341 Pitt Street, Cornwall, ON.
