Denise Marilyn Paquette

Denise Marilyn Paquette 1960-2020

Beloved daughter of Juliette Major and Marcel Paquette (Jeanine Desnoyers). Loving spouse and best friend of Edward Hayes. Sister of Diane Eyolfson (Brian), Paul Paquette (Wayne Smith) and Louise Doe (Ross). Loving aunt of Carly Doe, Kristjan Eyolfson and Shalagh Hayes. Denise will be missed greatly by the extended Major, Paquette and Hayes families. Denise passed away April 22 at St. Joseph Continuing Care Centre in Cornwall, where she had been treated superbly with love and respect since 2012.

A graduate of Fanshawe College in London, Denise was employed from 1983 as a diagnostic imaging technician, first at Ottawa Hospital Civic campus and then for twenty-plus years at Cornwall Community Hospital, and is remembered as a caring and dedicated professional and loyal colleague. Diagnosed with frontal lobe dementia (FLD) in 2008, she retired and her capacities declined over time. However, she continued to maintain her lifelong good humour, much because of the support provided by St. Joseph’s administrative, medical and support staff. The anticipated maximum lifespan after an FLD diagnosis is ten years, and the average is four. Denise survived for twelve happy years, and visited favourite locations in Ottawa and eastern Ontario until almost the very end. Shy, compassionate, funny, artistic, handy and a world champion shopper, Denise leaves behind many friends. Our thanks to everyone who knew Denise for your love and kindness.

Bunny, while you may no longer walk with us, you will live forever in our hearts.
