Charles Fenton
It is with profound sadness that the family of Charles (Dick) Richard Arthur Fenton announces his passing on Wednesday November 6, 2024. Dick passed away at the age of 80. The world has lost a great husband, father, grandfather, sibling, and friend.
Dick was born on December 7, 1943, in Cornwall, Ontario. He married his teenage sweetheart, Andrea Cunningham in 1965 and together they had two children; Erin and Andrew.
Dick began his working career with the Ontario Department of Highways and Transportation before becoming a member of the Ontario Provincial Police. This helped lead him to fulfill his childhood dream of becoming a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Dick had a long and distinguished career with the RCMP and retired as a Corporal from the High River Detachment.
After his retirement from the RCMP, Dick was a member of the Nanton Town Council for 9 years. In that time span, he served on other community committees such as Nanton FCSS.
He leaves to mourn, his wife, Andrea (nee Cunningham) Fenton, his daughter Erin Fenton, and Grandson Evan Salisbury. Brothers and sisters; Chalene (John) Toplensky of Blackfalds, AB; Jack (Shauna) Fenton of Three Hills, AB; Edi Kaus of Mississauga, Ontario; Carol (Miles) Maerz of Three Hills, AB; Murray Fenton of Cornwall, Ontario; and sister-in-law Isabel Murray of Cornwall, Ontario; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Dick was predeceased by his parents Charles and Mabel (nee Youngs) and step-mom Violet (nee McMurray) Fenton; his son Andrew Fenton; brothers-in-law Kevin Murray, Mark Kaus, and Gary Paulson.
A wake (visitation) will be held Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Lyle Reeves Funeral Home (140 6th Ave SW, High River, AB T1V 1A1) from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
The Funeral Service will be held on Friday November 15, 2024 and the Nanton Baptist Church (2410 26 Ave, Nanton, AB T0L 1R0) at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to PADS; a service dog organization. www.pads.ca
