Carol Baxter-Wilcox (Graham)
Our beloved mother passed away peacefully on November 10, 2024, at Chartwell Wedgewood in Brockville.
Born in 1928, she grew up in Alexandria—the second child of Robert and Dorothy (Hope) Graham. After graduating from Alexandria High School, she attended Kemptville Agricultural College where she met her future husband, the late Douglas Baxter of Lunenburg, Ontario. They lived in Alexandria for most of their 55-year marriage, many of them as owners of Graham Creamery Ltd. Three years after Doug’s death in 2003, she married Doug Wilcox and moved to St. Thomas, Ontario. They later relocated to Brockville to be closer to family.
Carol is mourned by her four children: Susan (the late Rondo MacSweyn), Jim (Brenda), Helen Alix (Allan Rattray), and David (Sandra Vegeris); and her loving grandchildren: Graham Baxter (Patti Slavinski), Brendan (Simone), Beth (Chris Dupont), Donnelly (Stacey Nguyen), Steven Rattray (Jackie Andrews), Susan Rattray (Pierre Luc Sabourin), Scott (Harriet), Paul, Ian (Amy Perry), and Johanna (Pawel Czarnowski). Great-grandchildren Finn, Lane, Elena, Bailey, Summer, and Zachary brightened her last years as well.
Carol is also mourned by Doug Wilcox’s caring family who were exceptionally kind to her: Glenn (Linda), and Barry (Colleen).
She leaves her much-loved sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Alastair MacKenzie of Ponoka, Alberta, as well as many treasured nieces and nephews. Two dear siblings and their spouses predeceased her: Jim Graham (Janet Charlebois) and Vivian Ballantyne (Bill).
Next summer, when more of her extended family can attend, notice will be shared for her Celebration of Life which will be held after a private interment at the United Church Cemetery in Alexandria.
Should you wish to donate in Carol’s memory, please consider the Glengarry Memorial Hospital Foundation, or another charity of your choice.
