CORNWALL, Ontario – The annual lighting of Cornwall’s Christmas tree took place in front of the Justice Building at 340 Pitt St. on Friday, Nov. 23, 2018.

The tree was lit by Caydence Andre, 11 and her cousin Robin Thacker, 8, with the help of Mayor Leslie O’Shaughnessy and Santa Claus himself.

Caydence and Robin were the lucky winners of a draw amongst a couple dozen of kids who were in attendance to determine who would light the tree.

The tree itself came from the front lawn of City of Cornwall employee Amy Malyon and was moved to the front of the Justice Building with the help of Herb’s Towing and Black and MacDonald.

Several dozen people came out to see the tree be lit at 6:30 p.m. precisely.

While they waited for the lights to go on, they were entertained by the La Citadelle choir who sang a variety of festive tunes.
