CORNWALL, Ontario – The Cornwall Chamber of Commerce held their annual Business Excellence Awards gala on Saturday, Feb. 22.
Taking place at the Cornwall Civic Complex, the sold out event saw 220 attendees celebrate local businesses.
“This year’s business winners are a reflection of the strength and diversity of the Cornwall business community,” said
the Chamber’s president Shannon Lebrun.
There were a few notable changes this year from previous versions of the event. This year’s awards were filmed by YourTV. Also, there were multiple nominees announced for most categories this year.
There were 10 awards given out in total, but the one that always receives the most interest and excitement is the Citizen of the Year Award. This year’s Citizen of the Year is Terry Muir.
A member of the Cornwall Optimists Club, a Governor General Sovereign Medal for Volunteers winner and a community volunteer for more than 30 years, Muir exemplified the qualities sought in a community leader.
“Terry Muir is an example to us all and is representative of Cornwall’s generous spirit,” Lebrun said.
In his acceptance speech, Muir thanked the community, and his wife Wendy.
